On February 4, 2017, Powell River’s fierce and friendly hockey team, the Powell River Kings, united again with Vancouver Coastal Health to deliver an evening of tobacco-free fun at their game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
At their home turf aka the Hap Parker Arena, events and free stuff were enjoyed by the crowd during each intermission. There was a hilarious race to chuck as many containers of chewing tobacco into garbage cans as possible (it’s harder to do than you’d think, especially with so many people watching!) The mascot came rink-side to shoot prizes into the crowd, and there was also a draw to win even bigger prizes for those cool people who came by the Vancouver Coastal Health booth 😉
After the game, the Kings’s Tobacco-Free Ambassadors stopped by the booth to sign posters for a crowd of eager fans. Talk about dedication – these guys took the time to make sure their fans didn’t go home empty-handed even after a tough game.

Come cheer on the local Powell River Kings hockey team and find out about their Athelete Ambassadors who support Your Call! Luke Nogard and Matt Scarth want to meet you and tell you about their call on tobacco.
