As of this ski/snowboard season, our world-famous mountains are officially all smoke-free!! That’s right – both Seymour and Cypress joined Grouse and Whistler this year in their commitment to providing an 100% smoke-free environment for everyone to enjoy. And that means no e-cigarettes and marijuana either. All of this comes just in time for 2017’s National Non-Smoking Week, which is happening from January 15 to 21. So what are you waiting for? Grab your gear and your friends and get yourselves up one of our mountains to take in the fresh air! 😀
Spring has definitely arrived! If you feel that your winter mountain sport was taken from you prematurely, then feast your eyes on the images below. The photos where taken at our event at the Roundhouse on Whistler. One lucky girl won a lesson with Ashleigh McIvor! There was sun. There was snow. It was as though mother nature herself wanted to celebrate a smoke free roundhouse patio.
Big thanks to Ashleigh McIvor, 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist in Ski Cross and all around great person. Memories were created.
Ashleigh McIvor, the 2010 Winter Olympic Gold Medalist in Ski Cross, is a busy gal. Skiing all that powder is a tough job, but somebody has got to do it! All kidding aside, we’re glad Ashleigh has found the time to hang out with us. Join us in the Roundhouse on Whistler, 11:30am – 1:30pm. We have something to celebrate. That means we have prizes to give away.
Your Vancouver Giants will be playing what’s bound to be an exciting game on Friday, March 14 at the Pacific Coliseum (7:30 – 10:30pm) so come out to support them and learn more about their involvement with the Your Call Campaign! Athlete Ambassador Mason Geertsen will be delivering a message about the campaign, including an invitation to you to make your own call about tobacco use. You may have seen him featured on rink boards around town, but if not then you can be on the lookout for some of those now!
More reasons to come out to this game:
Come cheer on the local Powell River Kings hockey team and find out about their Athelete Ambassadors who support Your Call! Luke Nogard and Matt Scarth want to meet you and tell you about their call on tobacco.

It was a cold and snowy day up on the mountain, but everyone was in good spirits. Ashleigh McIvor, 2010 Olympic Winter Games Gold Medalist in Ski Cross is supporting this campaign and on this day she mingled with people, help spread the word on healthy living and smoke-free mountains, skied some runs with skiers and snowboarders and invited everyone to take photos with her (and her medal!).
Ashleigh McIvor, 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist in Ski Cross, from Whistler, BC is one of this campaign’s Athlete Ambassadors. She is helping spread the word about the negative effects of second-hand smoke, specifically on our mountains.
